Our Program
A typical day:
Morning Arrival & Circle Time:
Children gather for a brief circle time outdoors.
The teacher introduces the day's theme or activities, which could include a nature-based story, a song, or a discussion about the weather or seasonal changes.
Outdoor Exploration:
After circle time, children head into the forest, garden, or playground for free exploration.
They might go on a nature walk to observe plants, animals, chickens, and insects, or they might have time to play in a mud kitchen by the creek, build a den, or engage in other open-ended outdoor activities.
Snack and Relaxation:
Children take a break to enjoy a snack.
During this time, they might talk about what they saw during their exploration or engage in quiet activities like looking through magnifying glasses or drawing.
Themed Learning Activities:
The teacher introduces a structured activity that ties into the natural world. This might include a science experiment (like planting seeds), a creative art project using natural materials, or a simple math game using sticks and stones.
Outdoor Play/ Free Play:
After the learning activity, children have free playtime in nature. This could involve climbing trees, collecting fallen leaves, playing in a sandpit, or running around with friends.
Teachers provide support as needed but generally allow children to explore at their own pace, fostering independence and social skills.
Lunch:
Children sit down for lunch, often outdoors if weather permits. They might enjoy a picnic or eat under a shelter.
Reflection & Closing:
Before heading home, children gather again for a closing circle. They reflect on the day’s adventures, share what they learned, and discuss anything they are excited about.
